Charter of Principles

Respect, sharing, and experimentation. The values that unite us.

Core Principles

All community conduct is guided by the following principles:

Good faith

We assume positive intent unless proven otherwise

Neutrality

We avoid favoritism and personal conflicts

Proportionality

Measures are appropriate to the severity of the situation

Consistency

Similar situations are handled in similar ways

Minimal intervention

We intervene only when necessary

Transparency

Decisions are justified and documented

Meshtastic Network (Mesh / Radio)

The mesh network is a shared and limited resource

The Meshtastic network is not a social chat. It is a technical, decentralized infrastructure with finite resources that must be used responsibly by everyone.

Acceptable & Recommended Use
  • Technical messages and diagnostics
  • Occasional, coordinated tests
  • Network coordination
  • Brief community context messages
  • Relevant or emergency communications
Discouraged Use
  • Long non-technical conversations
  • High-frequency chats (many messages in a short time)
  • Repetitive messages without purpose
  • Using the network as a social media substitute
  • Excessive tests without coordination

Tip: If you want to chat, use our collaborative groups! The mesh network is for simple communications.

Unacceptable Use
  • Deliberate spam
  • Intentional or negligent flooding
  • Offensive, illegal, or discriminatory content
  • Attempts to interfere with or sabotage the network
  • Abusive use that compromises overall operation

Social Communication Platforms

Our social spaces

We are present on Telegram, Discord, and Matrix. Here you can chat, ask questions, share experiences, and meet the community. There is more social tolerance than on the radio network, but mutual respect still applies.

Telegram

Main community group

Discord

Community organized by channels

Matrix

Open, federated protocol

We expect from you
  • Respectful language
  • Willingness to learn and teach
  • Acceptance of diversity
  • Collaborative spirit
We do not tolerate
  • Personal attacks or insults
  • Destructive irony or humiliation
  • Recurring aggressive discussions
  • Constant provocations
  • Spam or abusive self-promotion
Discussion of Other Platforms

We recognize other platforms and mesh projects. You may mention and discuss other solutions, but keep respect:

  • Do not make aggressive or provocative comparisons
  • Do not try to discredit other platforms
  • Do not attack people for technological preferences
  • Share objective and constructive information
Remember: Our groups are not a technological battlefield. We are a community of experimenters, not militants.

Node Blocks

Blocking is an exceptional measure

We block nodes only when necessary to protect the network. It is not a personal punishment, but a technical measure to safeguard overall operation.

When can a block happen?
  • Recurring or prolonged flooding
  • Deliberate spam or abusive use
  • Offensive or illegal content transmitted
  • Behavior that significantly degrades the network
  • Attempts at sabotage or interference
  • Repeat offenses after warnings

Whenever possible, we try to contact you first! We prefer to resolve things through dialogue before blocking.

How does the process work?
  1. Submission: A curator proposes the block with technical justification
  2. Validation: Two other curators must approve
  3. Activation: After the third validation, the block takes effect
  4. Transparency: The reason is recorded and visible to you
Note: No curator can block alone. Three independent validations are always required.
Unblocking

Unblocking is a natural part of the process! You can request unblocking when:

  • You fixed the issue that caused the block
  • You understand the network best practices
  • Enough time has passed (less severe cases)

To unblock, a single curator validation is enough. Use the online platform or contact us directly.

Measures and Consequences

Progressiveness: We always start with the lightest measures, except in emergencies. The goal is to educate, not punish.

Telegram Measures Scale

Level Measure When Duration
1 Informal warning First minor incident -
2 Formal warning Recurrence or moderate incident -
3 Temporary mute Multiple recurrences 24h
4 Temporary mute Recurrence after mute 7 days
5 Temporary mute Ongoing problematic pattern 30 days
6 Ban Severe infractions, unrecoverable cases Permanent*

* Review possible after 6+ months

Mesh Network Measures Scale

Level Measure When Duration
1 Educational contact Unintentional improper use -
2 Technical warning Recurrence or moderate impact -
3 Temporary block Flooding after warning 7 days
4 Temporary block Severe recurrence 30 days
5 Extended block Systematic abuse pattern 90+ days
6 Permanent block Deliberate attacks, extreme cases Indefinite*

* With annual review

Common Offenses and Typical Measures
Offense Severity 1st time Repeat
Occasional inappropriate language Low Informal warning Formal warning
Excessive off-topic chat Low Informal warning Mute 24h
Excessive mesh testing Low Educational contact Technical warning
Heated discussion Moderate Formal warning Mute 24h-7d
Mesh flooding Moderate Technical warning Block 7d
Direct insults Severe Mute 7d Mute 30d or ban
Deliberate spam (mesh) Severe Block 7-30d Block 30-90d
Illegal content Very severe Immediate ban Permanent ban
